Cinemagraphs

Cinemagraphs are short, often slow-motion, and often looping short videos which have the feel and composition of a photograph, and yet capture some interesting aspect of the time dimension like a video. There is typically no “plot.” The point is to be beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, or visually interesting in some way. I like to capture unstaged scenes from every day life that contain naturally occurring chaotic dynamical systems, or repetitive and shifting patterns. As with photography, I believe it is important to recognize scenes as they happen, and take the time to compose and properly capture the cinemagraph.
